The Accelerated Master's Program (AMP) creates a streamlined pathway from the BAS in Intelligence & Information Operations (IIO) to the Master of Arts in International Security Studies (ISS).

Start Your Master's While Completing Your Bachelor's

Students in any of the four Intelligence & Information Operations emphasis areas can plan ahead for an accelerated path to graduate education.

Through the AMP, eligible students may complete up to 12 units — or four courses — of graduate-level coursework while still enrolled in the IIO bachelor’s program. Those courses can count toward both the BAS in Intelligence & Information Operations and the Master of Arts in International Security Studies, allowing students to reduce the time and cost required to complete both degrees.

The program is offered in partnership with International Security Studies in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences.

HOW IT WORKS

Plan Early

Students interested in the AMP should begin discussing the opportunity with their IIO academic advisor before their senior year. Their advisor will help them understand the eligibility requirements, determine how graduate courses fit into their degree plan and prepare for the application process.

Begin Graduate Coursework

Once admitted to the AMP, students may take up to 12 graduate units during their senior or transition year. These courses can apply toward both the bachelor's and master's degrees.

Because the courses are taken while the student is still classified as an undergraduate, they are generally charged at the undergraduate tuition rate and may retain eligibility for undergraduate scholarships. 

Complete the Bachelor’s Degree

Students continue working toward their BAS in Intelligence & Information Operations while completing the approved graduate coursework.

Transition to the Master's Program

As students approach completion of their bachelor's degree, they submit a new application to International Security Studies to officially enter the graduate program. The application fee is waived for AMP students, although they must still meet the admission requirements for the Master of Arts in International Security Studies.

Eligibility

Is the AMP Right for You?

Students must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Be enrolled in an eligible BAS in Intelligence & Information Operations emphasis area
• Complete at least 75 undergraduate credits before applying 
• Complete at least 90 credits before entering the AMP
• Have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher
• Meet with an undergraduate academic advisor before applying 

Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. Students should work with their IIO academic advisor to confirm eligibility and determine how the AMP fits into their academic plan.
